This Law includes:
• The objective of the Law, which is, “Providing complete protection for inventions in the Kingdom and determining the body authorized to grant patents (King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology) and the conditions for that
• What is not considered as an invention
• Rights based on granting a patent
• Procedures for requesting a patent
• Using a patent without its owner's permission
• Provisions for exploiting a patent, its disposition and its duration
• Provisions related to the compulsory license for exploiting a patent, its disposition and its duration.
• Provisions related to compulsory license for exploiting an invention
• Giving up the patent.
• Provisions of encroaching upon patent
• Formation of a committee to consider all disputes and appeals against decisions issued concerning patents and criminal suits resulted from violating the provisions and regulations of this Law
• The Committee procedures for working, making decisions, and complaining of it before the Board of Grievances
• Responsibilities and obligations of the of patents administration’s employees.
• Permission to view the patents record free of charge.
• This Law will be implemented 90 days after its publication in the official newspaper.
